Gothenburg Island Festival
The "Gothenburg Island Festival 2023," also known as "Digitala Ö-Festen" in Swedish, is an event created by the creative agency Kokokaka. This edition took place virtually on the Hiber3D platform in August 2023 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the city of Gothenburg. This innovative festival comprised a virtual experience that welcomed over 14,000 unique visitors from 63 different countries during its first week. The festival was a continuation of the physical Ö-Festen, which took place on Ringön Island in Gothenburg, known for its creative and welcoming atmosphere. The digital version allowed the public to explore and interact with the event in a digital environment, and this initiative showcased a unique blend of culture, music, and games, all made possible by the Hiber3D development kit.
During my internship at Kokokaka in 2023, I had the opportunity to work on that year's Gothenburg Island Festival. Using the Hiber3D graphics engine, I was responsible for recreating environments simulating iconic locations on Ringön Island, incorporating interactive games, a treasure hunt, and live music. My role was to design experiences that would allow thousands of visitors from around the world to explore the festival's digital universe, interact with its content, and participate in various activities. This project allowed me to combine my technical and creative skills to create an immersive and engaging 'metaverse' experience.

This is a virtual recreation of a popular bar on Ringön Island in Gothenburg, where physical events, such as concerts, were held during the festival period. Users had access to a schedule of performances and emotes with which they could interact live during the concerts.
